"I DON'T KNOW IF THESE HANDS WILL BECOME MALCOLM'S- RAISED AND FISTED OR MARTIN'S- OPEN AND ASKING OR JAMES'S-CURLED AROUND A PEN. I DO NOT KNOW IF THESE HANDS WILL BE ROSA'S OR RUBY'S- GENTLY GLOVED AND FIERCELY FOLDED CALMLY IN A LAP, ON A DESK, OR AROUND A BOOK, READY TO CHANGE THE WORLD."

-JACQUELINE WOODSON, BROWN GIRL DREAMING

Class Novels

We will select a few of these novels to read together this year. If you haven't already read these titles, please don't read ahead. If you have already read some of these books, don't worry! Each time we read a book, we can examine it in new ways and learn something new! In college, I read the same book (The Iliad) for three different classes! Each time I read it, it was a completely different experience!
